The War on Christmas

November 30, 2005

First of all, Stop The ACLU got a full page, color ad in the Washington Times. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can do so HERE.

Merry Christmas ACLU Every year we have come to expect the ACLU to wage war on Christmas. Just recently, the ADF won a victory for a school threatened by the ACLU over a nativity scene. The ACLU have created an environment that has spread like a virus across the nation. The far left have taken the politically correct ball and ran with it. They have redefined in their own minds, and in the minds of many Americans that “all inclusive” means “excluding” Christianity.

The environment the ACLU have created through threatening tactics across the years have made many schools proactive. In order to avoid lawsuits, some schools straight out banned the C word. This year, however, legal groups are being preemptive. The Alliance Defense Fund has even devoted a website, and offered free legal advice to any who feel they are being censored this year.

A backlash is happening this year as the American people are making their voices known. Wal-Mart felt the backlash, and backed off the politically correct exclusion of the word Christmas after being threatened with a boycott. Boston set off a furor this week when it officially renamed a giant tree erected in a city park a “holiday tree” instead of a “Christmas tree.”

The Capitol officially returned to calling it a Christmas tree instead of a holiday tree. Lowes also dumped the “holiday” reference after public outcry.

One Michagan family was told they could not display a nativity scene on their own lawn. After being threatened with fines if they did not remove it, they contacted the Thomas More Law Center, and were victorious in standing up for their rights.

Bill O’Reilly is leading the charge on his show, featuring the secularization of Christmas. John Gibson, also of FOX news has even written a book about it.

They are not alone, bloggers are reacting too. California Conservative has teamed up with us, and created a petition to support Christmas. Stop The ACLU is providing Christmas decorations for your blog. Kevin McCullough is asking his readers to send the ACLU Christmas cards.

Across the nation, people are standing up to the ACLU. In Georgia, legislators are proposing a bill that would allow counties to freely display historical documents “without threat from the ACLU. The Louisiana Legislature has approved a resolution urging Congress to pass the Constitution Restoration Act, a bill that would prohibit federal courts from ruling in cases involving government officials who acknowledge God “as the sovereign source of law, liberty or government.” Under the bill, any judge who violates the proposed rule by making “extrajurisdictional” decisions will have committed an offense that is grounds for impeachment.

Representative Hostettler has introduced legislation to the House that would limit attorney fees in Establishment Clause cases to injunctive relief only.

We have a petition set up asking Congress to stop taxpayer funding for the ACLU. Stand up, and fight the ACLU.

Screw our Citizens, Let’s Worry about Theirs

November 28, 2005

Alright, Kender tipped me off about this so I decided it’s a better fit for his blog than mine. Kender caught a little blurb about the French taxing airline tickets while sitting in the hospital. For those that are interested, he’s doing pretty good. Anyway, here’s a funny story about the socialists in France.

FRANCE TAXES AIRLINE TICKETS TO PAY FOR GLOBAL POVERTY

PARIS – France’s Cabinet on Wednesday approved a plan to put a tax on airline tickets starting next year to finance efforts against poverty and disease in the developing world.

The international solidarity tax, however, drew harsh criticism from airlines and tourism sectors.

If approved by parliament, the tax would be levied starting July 1, 2006. The first funds would go toward fighting pressing problems including AIDS

President Jacques Chirac told Cabinet ministers.

Airlines, including France’s national carrier Air France, have said the measure would hurt business as well as tourism — a large source of revenue in the developing world.

The levy would apply to tickets for departures from France, adding a $1.17 tax to economy class tickets within Europe and $4.70 for travels outside European airspace. France estimates the measure could raise $234 million a year.

The head of the National Federation of Freight Aviation, Jean-Pierre Le Goff, said the tax could scare off 600,000 to 1 million clients and affect 3,000-4,000 jobs.

Despite the misgivings, the solidarity tax is expected to win final approval by the end of the year, as Chirac’s party has a strong parliamentary majority.

France — which hopes its national program will prove the bill could work on a larger scale — is among the countries that has made the case at the

United Nations

United Nations for a similar program at the international level. The United States has opposed the idea.

Now the UN is getting involved too. Of course we oppose this! If we choose to help poverty around the world, we’re not going to be forced to send cash to nations that the UN supports, which is usually a ragtag group of dictators and communists. I’d love to see what Bolton says about this one if it comes up in the General Assembly. The French can’t even handle their own economy, and their own poverty, but now plan on further taxing their own people to pay for poverty overseas. France is basically saying, we don’t care about our own people, as long as we implement socialism around the world.

Kenders adds this clever quip- “If France was a person, it’d be clinically depressed and needs heavily medicated.”

Couldn’t put it better myself.

Guard our borders blogburst

November 28, 2005

Freedom Folks left an awesome story in our trackbacks over the weekend that is worth checking out. I decided to make it the focus of this week’s Guard the Borders.

Right now, if an illegal immigrant makes it across the border in time to have a baby, that child is automatically a U.S. citizen according to current law. Never mind that it’s completely against the point of the original Constitutional amendment. We’re dealing with “living documents” and all that, right moonbats? Freedom Folks explains.

This language was added to the constitution after the Civil War to provide protection against blacks being denied their rights as newly recognized citizens. The widespread abuse of this misinterpretation is a crime we have allowed to go on for far too long. It should never have been interpreted as an invitation to sneak into the country to give birth as a way of circumventing the process of legally attaining citizenship.

Apparently someone in Congress finally woke up and smelled the day laborers. Rep. Nathan Deal (R-GA) is sponsoring a bill that would deny citizenship to babies born to illegal immigrants in the U.S. Well, God bless that man. May his tribes increase (especially if they end up being productive members of society).

Of course, something as ‘radical’ as limiting citizenship to actual Americans who have chosen to give their allegiance to the United States of America couldn’t go without being panned by the pro-immigrant lobby.

“It would be just wrong for us to deny such a basic right to just this population,” said Angelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, or CHIRLA.

By “this population”, I’m assuming they mean people who get one foot over the border and then plop out a baby, to be raised and supported by the federal and state government at the expense of taxpayers who have this little thing called a job. Sorry, no sympathy here.

“It goes against a tradition of really integrating immigrants into our society in order to unify us as a nation, and what it actually does, it further marginalizes a whole community,” Salas said.

Salas is missing the meaning of “integration”. Integration is when someone legally enters the U.S., gets a job, learns the language, and calls themselves an American. They believe in patriotism. They understand the price of freedom, and that freedom is precious to them. To simply offer blanket citizenship, with all its rights and benefits, to people whose only goal in life is to be supported by Joe Taxpayer is asinine.

According to FOX, an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants are here. That’s a lot of non-integration.

In related news, Bush is visiting Arizona and Texas today to talk about border security. I was pleasantly surprised–until I saw the focus of his visit.

White House aides say the president will make remarks pledging additional resources and the use of technology to secure the border. One concept he’ll discuss is “interior repatriation,” a term that means returning illegal immigrants from Mexico to the interior of their country, rather than returning them just over the other side of the border.

In other words, spend more money taking them back.

Let’s pretend you own a ranch. You have a critter problem. Animals of all different species are coming on to your land. Once they get across your fences, they steal your food, make a mess of everything, tear up the landscape, frighten your family, and in some cases even hurt or kill your livestock. You put out some live traps, releasing the animals back into the wild to run free in their own environment. But you’re seeing the same animals back on your property almost immediately. What do you do? Let them run rampant on your property, taking your resources and giving nothing in return? Your ranch would go under. And why should you support them, anyway?

Now, before you start getting all moonbatty on me and accuse me of calling illegal immigrants animals, rest assured that I’m not. However, the principle is the same. They don’t belong here, in most cases they don’t contribute anything to society, and they do nothing but take from the legitimate citizens of this country. This idea of “interior repatriation” is nothing more than a catch and release program. There is no real deterrent to illegal immigration. People are simply put back across the border to do it all over again.

Bush will also make another pitch for his temporary worker program, which has never really caught on in Congress.

Riiight. Temporary worker program? You mean “Legally Sponging Welfare in the U.S.” program. Personally, I’d like to see that fence erected along the U.S.-Mexico border. Put one agent every mile in a guard tower with a pair of binoculars and a sniper rifle, with strict instructions to shoot on sight.

I was born here as a third-generation American. My grandparents came over from Europe, worked hard, and chased the American dream with a shovel and a lunchbox, not two outstretched hands. Citizenship is a privelige, not a right. It should not be handed to you simply in recognition of your border-jumping-while-pregnant skills.

Strange Twist in the Padilla Case

November 27, 2005

Ok, you’ve got this guy who’s been held as an enemy combatant although he’s a US citizen, with the ACLU screaming bloody hell about his “rights” being denied.

Listen. When you join the forces of the enemy, you’ve waived your rights as US citizen because you’ve joined the enemy!

Now you’ve got the fact that he was indicted, but…now it seems as though they’re going to rule out the testimony of two Al Qaeda terrorists because the two whiners were ‘subjected to harsh questioning.’ Well booohoo!

The Qaeda members were Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, believed to be the mastermind of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and Abu Zubaydah, a top recruiter, who gave their accounts to American questioners in 2002 and 2003. The two continue to be held in secret prisons by the CIA, whose internal reviews have raised questions about their treatment and credibility, the officials said.

One review, completed in the spring of 2004 by the CIA inspector general, found that Mohammed had been subjected to excessive use of a technique involving near-drowning [known as waterboarding] in the first months after his capture, according to US intelligence officials.

To my way of thinking, terrorists deserve to be taken into the back and shot in the head. We are AT WAR. War is a war of attrition where you KILL THE ENEMY. Padilla identifies with the enemy, that much is clear. So what’s the problem?

From the Superpatriots website:

Terrorists don’t wear uniforms, have ID Cards, carry their weapons openly, wear unit patches (what would it say? AQ Killer Group with two burning towers as a logo?), or any of the other things required by Rule 4, except that they might be subordinate to a commander (like bin Laden, Hekmatyar, Mullah Omar, etc). But being subordinate to a madman does give rise to Geneva Conventions protections, you need to follow all of the requirements of Rule 4.

Some people say that one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter. Cute saying, but not legally correct. Freedom fighters and guerillas, historically, wear uniforms- no matter how ragged or mismatched, they carry their arms openly, rarely target civilian women and children, have military ranks and often have Identity Cards. Examples include; Tito’s resistance in WWII, Cuba- 1950’s, Dominican Republic- 1960’s, Nicaraguan Sandinistas- 1970’s, the Salvadoran FMLN and the US backed Contras in the 1980’s, Karen Rebels-1990’s, and Commander Massoud’s Mujahadeen resistance against the Soviets between 1980 and 1989, and Massoud’s Northern Alliance resistance against he Taliban between 1996-2005.

On the flip side, you have the Taliban, al-Qaida, and other terrorist organizations, which do none of these things. Nor do they abide by or follow the Rules of Land Warfare {GC Article 4 ß 2 (d)}. Terrorists indiscriminately kill women and children through acts of terror. Terrorists behead their hostages (as compared to Jack, who was denounced by the Taliban Judge/bomber he captured for failing to allow the terrorist to use the bathroom for a full twelve hours). Terrorists are defined as people who engage in “the calculated use of violence or threat of violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are general political, religious, or ideological (US Army Special Forces Force Protection Handbook; Joint Pub 1-02 dated March 23, 1994)

The Detroit Free Press reported that the charges against Padilla did include conspiring to murder, kidnap, and maim Americans overseas and of providing material support to terrorists. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said Padilla had traveled overseas for training to fight in “violent jihad” and was part of a terrorist support cell that operated in the United States.

Oh, but they were subjected to “harsh questioning”. Give me a freakin’ break.

I suppose we should give them an ice cream cone and take them to a movie. We’re already treating the terrorists at Gitmo better than we treat our own soldiers–their meals on average per day cost $4 a day to $3.60–the average meal cost per day for convicts costs $2.78 per day. The average cost of meals served the terrorists at Gitmo costs $12.68 per day.

Since when do we give preferential treatment to TERRORISTS? This is absolutely astonishing…but there are many more examples of it. They get a brand new Qu’ran, they get 24 hour access to an Imam, they get a new prayer rug, they get a sign in their cell that points to mecca, they get a prayer cap, etc., etc.. It’s ridiculous!

This reminds me of the terrorists that supposedly were “hanging upside down” in the basement of Jack’s safe house. Interesting that the journalists who reported the lies of these terrorists forgot to mention that there was no basement in that house. Also interesting that they didn’t report that Specats and SF Ops have about 50 of those safehouses in and around Kabul.

When all was said and done, these people admitted that no torture occurred, but still maintained that Jack didn’t allow them to pee for 12 hours, so they whined about THAT. That’s just a wee bit different than being electrocuted, or having boiling water poured on you, like they originally claimed. That is, in fact, what happened to Jack and his men at Saderat immediately after they were taken into custody, but I don’t hear the human rights activists complaining about THOSE injustices.

Idema was tortured with boiling water, starvation, threats of death, and assault with various implements (such as wire cables and rubber whips), resulting in broken ribs, a separated sternum, torn rotator cuffs, hemorrhaged eyes, multiple concussions, lacerations, contusions, and bruises. Although the U.S. Embassy later had medical reports indicating the extent of the torture, Sandra Ingram, Assistant U.S. Consul DOS Kabul, ordered the reports rewritten to tone down the extent of the injuries.

And let’s not forget how they were treated at Thanksgiving:

Thanksgiving for Jack Idema, Captain Bennett, Lt Banderas, and Journalist Carabello went like this: Ten US Special Operations Soldiers were threatened by the Dept of State with Article 15’s (low level court martials) if they brought Turkey to Pulacharke Prison on Thanksgiving.

If that’s not enough,

US Consul Addie Harchick visted them, refused them mail, and then tried to drive away with the water the Marines sent them, until an Afghan General had his bodyguards block the Embassy car and force them to deliver the water. One of the State Dept Security officers told the story at bar last night, and it made the boys sitting there listening f***ing sick. We treated Nazi POWs better than this.

Something’s terribly wrong here, and part if it has to do with the leftists who are supporting the rights of the enemy versus truly supporting our troops and the people who are fighting the WOT on our behalf.

What is a veteran?

November 26, 2005

Some Veterans bear visible signs of their service… A missing limb, a jagged scar, a certain look in the eye. Others may carry the evidence inside them: a pin holding a bone together, a piece of shrapnel in the leg – or perhaps another sort of inner steel: the soul’s ally forged in the refinery of adversity.

Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe wear no badge or emblem. You can’t tell a Vet just by looking. So what is a vet?

He is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi Arabia sweating two gallons a day making sure the armored personnel carriers didn’t run out of fuel. He is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden planks, whose overgrown frat-boy behavior is outweighed a hundred times in the cosmic scales by four hours of exquisite bravery near the 38th parallel.

She – or he – is the Nurse who fought against futility and went to sleep sobbing every night for two solid years in Da Nang.

He is the POW who went away one person and came back another – or didn’t come back AT ALL.

He is the Quantico Drill Instructor who has never seen combat – but has saved countless lives by turning slouchy, no-account rednecks and gang members into Marines, and teaching them to watch each other’s backs.

He is the parade riding Legionnaire who pins on his ribbons and medals with a prosthetic hand.

He is the career Quartermaster who watches the ribbons and medals pass him by.

He is the three anonymous heroes in The Tomb Of The Unknowns, whose presence at the Arlington National Cemetery must forever preserve the memory of all the anonymous heroes whose valor dies unrecognized with them on the battlefield or in the ocean’s sunless deep.

He is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket… palsied now and aggravatingly slow…who helped liberate a Nazi death camp and who wishes all day long that his wife were still alive to hold him when the nightmares come.

He is an ordinary and yet an extraordinary human being…a person who offered some of his life’s most vital years in the service of his country, and who sacrificed his ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs.

He is a soldier and a savior and a sword against the darkness, and he is nothing more than the finest, greatest testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known.

So remember, each time you see someone who has served our country, just lean over and say Thank You. That’s all most people need, and in most cases it will mean more than any medals they could have been awarded or were awarded.

Two little words that mean a lot,
“THANK YOU”

A Holiday Message From RealTeen

November 24, 2005

I’m posting this all around the blogasphere, wherever I contribute, because I just wanted to remind conservatives about the many things we have to be thankful for. I’ve comprised a top ten list of things to be thankful for. Some are funny, and others are serious, but they all have a clear message. There is hope.

10. Let’s be thankful that John Kerry isn’t President.
9. Be thankful that CNN isn’t the most trusted name in News
8. Be thankful that Al Franken doesn’t have as many listeners as Rush
7. Let’s be thankful that the libs don’t own the blogasphere
6. Give thanks that the ACLU hasn’t taken our freedom of speech… YET
5. Let’s be thankful that we can feel safe and secure in America
4. Be thankful that we’re not starving, poor, or oppressed
3. Be thankful that we live in the greatest country on Earth
2. Let’s give thanks for the fact that we will always have our family
1. Give a huge Thank You to our boys fighting the War on Terror

Keep those things in mind this holiday. When you sit down with your families, if you’re going to say a prayer, mention our boys serving overseas. While we’re enjoying our dinners, they may be being shot at, but they know that we are thankful for them, as are the Iraqis and Afghanis that are now free. Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Stop The ACLU Blogburst

November 23, 2005

Crossposted from Stop The ACLU

There is much to be thankful for this season. Most of all I am thankful to God, and my family. I hope everyone is enjoying this holiday, and spending time with their families. I put this up the night before Thanksgiving, because I will be taking the day off from blogging, and spending it with my family.

In the fight against the ACLU, there are many things to be thankful for. I am thankful for the 133 blogs that have joined our blogburst, and devote at least one day each week to fighting the ACLU.

I am thankful that for organizations like the Alliance Defense Fund who are fighting the ACLU for religion in public life. Alan Sears, the president of ADF has even written a book about it, ACLU Vs. America. Alan has appeared on O’Reilly and let the public know about the ACLU’s perversion of the Constitution, and for that, I am thankful. I am also thankful that they will be at the forefront in protecting Christmas this year.

I am thankful for the ACLJ. They are out there fighting the ACLU too. They have backed the City of Las Cruces, and many other small towns over religious expression. They have fought for the free speech of pro-life demonstrators, when the ACLU were nowhere to be found. I am thankful for that. The ACLJ have also fought hard against the ACLU’s attack against the Boyscouts, and for that I am also thankful.

I am thankful for freedom, and to our military that protects it. I know that many out there believe it is the ACLU who protect our freedom, but they are actually America’s number one religious censor. It is our men and women who put on their uniforms each day, that leave their families back home, and go off to foreign lands to fight for liberation, and freedom. And even they are not immune to the ACLU’s attacks. I’m am thankful to all our vets out there. Groups like the American Legion are vital components in the fight against the ACLU.

I am thankful for Congressmen and Representatives that have the guts to fight the ACLU. Many Congressmen have stood up for the Boyscouts. Representative Hostettler introduced the Public Expression of Religion Act to the House that seeks to limit attorney’s fees to injunctive relief only in Establishment Clause cases. The cases the ACLU love the most. The American Legion has gotten behind this legislation, and many other organizations included us have put together a petition for it. The Center For Reclaiming America’s petition recieved over 100,000 people backing it. For all of this, I am thankful.

I am thankful for the grace of God on our great Country. The secularists, through the Courts can take God out of the pledge or maybe even off our money, but they can’t take God out of the heart of America. Thank God for that.

There are many reasons to fight the ACLU, and I am thankful that we are making progress. The ACLU will continue its attempts to rewrite our history, but its good to know that there will be people out there to fight it. The more the public becomes aware of the ACLU’s agenda, the more people will fight it, and I am also thankful for that.

I am thankful for my family, and all the support they give to me. There is a lot to be thankful for.

This was a production of Stop The ACLU Blogburst. If you would like to join us, please email Jay at Jay@stoptheaclu.com or Gribbit at GribbitR@gmail.com. You will be added to our mailing list and blogroll. Over 115 blogs already onboard.

9th Circus Court

November 20, 2005

Crossposted from Stop The ACLU

While we mainly focus on the ACLU over at Stop The ACLU,we feel obligated to keep everyone aware of other issues as well, especially judicial activism. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is one of the main Courts at the lead in this area. One of the judges that sit on this Court is Stephen Reinhardt. Many conservatives think that he is THE most dangerous judge in the country. He is literally married to the Executive Director of the Southern California ACLU, Romona Riptston. There is little doubt that Michael Newdow will do his best to have his most recent case against “In God We Trust” on the money heard by Rienhardt.

The 9th Circuit have given us controversial rulings such as the phrase, “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional. They then turn around and rule that teaching children to be Muslims is O.K.

One ruling in particular has gotten many folks up in arms. Recently the 9th Circus has ruled that schools can teach children about sex, and that parents have no right to protest it. As a matter of fact their ruling was a blanket decision that pretty much stated that parents have no rights whatsoever on what their children are taught in public schools. Family advocate, James Dobson said, “I think that’s one of the most frightening examples of judicial tyranny that has come down.” Dobson called the 9th Circuit “the most out-of-control, imperious, unelected, unaccountable court in the country.

Dobson is not the only one that is concerned. Seven members of the House of Representatives set aside time to express outrage and say they’re not going to take it anymore.

Tennessee Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn says changes must be made.

It is time to break the 9th Circuit apart. It is time to be certain that we address the activism that is taking place on the judicial bench in this country.”

The House has actually even passed a resolution asking the 9th Circuit to rehear this case. The resolution (H. Res. 547), sponsored by Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Pa., passed by a vote of 320-91.

There is no doubt, in my opinion, that the 9th Circus is one of the most dangerous Courts in the Nation. So, I am happy to reprint this email I got today.

Hello,

I would like to address our case before the 9th Circuit Court Of Appeals, and the decision by Judge Stephen Reinhardt that parents have no constitutional right to prevent a public school from providing its students with whatever information it wishes to provide, sexual, or otherwise, when and as the school determines that it is appropriate to do so. The case before them is Fields vs. The Palmdale school district. This case stemmed from a sex survey given to 1st, 3rd and 5th grade students at Mesquite Elementary School three years ago. My son was one of them. He is in high school now and I believe he is still adversely affected by this incident.

On Nov. 16 The House of Representatives adopted House Resolution 547, introduced by Congressman Tim Murphy (PA-18), calling for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to rehear Fields v. Palmdale. The resolution passed by the House declares “the fundamental right of parents to direct the education of their children is firmly grounded in the Nation’s Constitution and traditions,” the 9th Circuit undermined such right, and the Court should rehear the case and reverse its decision.

Please, we need more public help on this, more now than ever before. I created a website to raise awareness and garner support from the people. It is 9thcircus.com please visit this website and buy a lapel pin and show your support for our cause. Everyone needs to write or call their Representative or Congressperson or contact The 9th Circuit Court Of Appeals and tell them that parents’ rights are deeply imbedded in the tradition and constitution of The United States and they cannot be removed by a stroke of the pen by Judge Reinhardt.

We do a good interview. Tammany has been on CNN, The Today Show, MSNBC, and is being scheduled for Fox News. What I would ask from you is a reciprocal link to your website. Please tell me if this would be possible. This would be a great opportunity to spread the word.

Thank you,

Jim Fields

Absolutely Jim! Your website has been added to our resources! Everyone go take a visit.

I have Always thought that the Morons at Kos are A Bunch of, well Morons.

November 18, 2005

But now I have some proof. I stopped over there a bit ago in the middle of watching CSPAN and the unfolding drama that called the Dems out on the carpet regarding their positions on the war.

Over at the Pile Of Shit, or the Daily POS as some know it by, was this “gem” of wrong-headed analysis.

The latest incarnation of the New McCarthyism, the ugly Duncan Hunter stunt – the so-called “Murtha” resolution – blew up in their face.

The NYTimes reported that:

House Republicans are attempting to split the ranks of the Democrats tonight by offering a resolution to withdraw American troops from Iraq immediately.

The vote on the rule to bring the Fake Hunter Resolution to the floor for a vote passed 210-202, but every every Democratic representative who voted, voted against the rule and 5 Republicans joined the Democrats.

Obviously, the Republican attempt failed.

Here is why this shows, without one shred of doubt, why the poster, “armando” is a blathering moron with the IQ of a turnip.

The goal of this Resolution was to allow the Dems to follow through with all of the rhetoric they spew about “supporting the troops but not the war”, to give them a chance to finally “put their money where their mouths are” so to speak. It was, after all, an idea thought up by a Democrat, (the withdrawal, not nailing the Dems to the door of the Capitol Building), and after months of hearing all of the BS from the left the GOP finally found their spine and called them on it.

The vote that Armando wrote about here was the vote to decide if the measure went to the floor for debate. Of course the Dems voted “NAY”. They didn’t want that Resolution on the floor for debate. They wanted that Resolution forgotten about. It made them look bad.

As well it should. When it came down to it even the Dems that stood up and said they would vote YEA on the Resolution voted Nay, as the progressive Black Caucus Chair swore he would vote to bring the troops home, and with his 43 members we see that he didn’t get the job done, since the had a grand total of THREE YEA votes.

The Dems had two choices here if they didn’t stop the Resolution from making it to the floor, which of course they didn’t. Their two choices were, vote Yea on the Resolution, showing the world, their constituencies and most importantly the Military who the true cowards are, or vote Nay, making them appear strong on defense, but, more importantly finally giving the world solid proof that even though they say they are against the war, the Dems do NOT possess the guts to vote their convictions.

As my friend Kit says, the Dems are all suck and no swallow.
